Why Pastured Turkey?
Less than 3% of turkey farms allow their birds to be raised in open pastures. Our turkeys are free to roam and are the juiciest, best-tasting birds you’ll ever try.
Heritage turkeys have a more evenly proportioned dark meat to light meat ratio than broad-breasted turkeys, resulting in a more elongated, thinner form. The rich turkey flavour adds a distinctive taste to your dinner.
You're getting a turkey that has spent its entire life outside, roaming on grass pasture and eating wholesome grains, resulting in juicy, delicious turkey without the use of chemical inputs, flavour additives or stimulants. Our turkeys cost more to produce because we use natural grains and take time and care to raise them outside on pasture, which is labour intensive, but you may rest confident knowing that no antibiotics, no GMO grains, or synthetic pesticides were used in the production of your meals.
Our Heritage turkeys are raised responsibly in open-pasture conditions without antibiotics or added hormones. They are selectively bred using heritage genetics, which results in a better flavour and texture compared to broad-breasted breeds.
Your Reservation is essential for us to get to work raising your turkey. It helps cover the labor, time, and upfront costs involved to raise turkeys the right way. Because of this investment, the *Reservation is non-refundable* Thank you for making this system possible!

Never cooked a whole turkey before? We are here to help! Don't hesitate to email us or call for information on how to cook a whole turkey. In the mean time, here are some tips for cooking pastured turkey:
Be ready for faster cook times. Pasture-raised turkeys will cook faster than factory-farmed birds. Set the oven temp for 325 degrees and figure on 8-10 minutes per pound for an un-stuffed bird, 12-15 minutes per pound if stuffed. Don’t worry — It WILL brown! But remember: oven temperatures and individual birds will always vary. Use an internal meat thermometer to know for sure when the bird is cooked.
Do not cover your bird! Covering it will only make the skin rubbery and soggy. Do not put tin foil over the breast. It is an unnecessary waste of aluminum.
Use a good-quality roasting pan. If this is your first Thanksgiving and you do not already own a turkey roasting pan and cannot find one to borrow, treat yourself to a really top-quality roaster, especially if you have a sizeable bird. Cheap aluminum pans from the grocery store can easily buckle when you remove the bird from the oven, potentially causing the cook serious burns or myriad other injuries in efforts to catch the falling fowl. Plus, they often end up in the recycling bin, or worse, landfills.
No need to flip - Pasture-raised turkeys are naturally juicy. Don’t make yourself crazy with this stunt. Just put it in the oven breast-side up like you would a whole chicken, don’t cover it and don’t over-cook it. Take it out when the breast is 165 degrees.

The Outdoor Turkey Pen
An overview of the turkeys in the pasture in their outdoor pen. This is day 2 for the birds. You can tell where the birds have been by the "wake" they've left behind them. This "wake" is remarkably beneficial for the pasture and the birds - which means more nutritious and delicious for YOU and YOUR FAMILY.
