BellMar Ranch & Gardens Pasture Raised Corn & Soy Free Laying Hens
Why Pastured Eggs?
We raise our chickens (and all of our other animals) in a way that prioritizes quality over quantity, nutrition over cheapness, craft over assembly lines, and our health as top priority.
The method is quite simple - raise the chickens the way they were put on Earth to be raised, and their egg quality will reward us with delicious flavor and enhanced nutrition.
Ninety-nine percent of the chickens raised in Canada are in dark barns, fed GMO grains, given drugs, dipped in chlorine, and kept behind closed doors from the public eye to see. The average egg farm in Canada has over 22,000 hens...we have less than 140.
We only sell eggs from chickens raised the the best way possible – outdoors on fresh pasture, supplemented with NON GMO corn free and soy free grain, no antibiotics, no chlorine baths – the quality won’t disappoint.
- Pasture Raised On real pasture - that's why pasture raised eggs are known to have more Omega 3's compared to organic, barn-raised eggs, because they are eating grass/forage
- Raised Outdoors - Grocery store "free range egg" laying hens (even the organic ones) never see the outdoors
- Actually Free Range - Not crammed in a chicken barn “free range” like most “free range” egg chickens are (organic or conventional)
- Non GMO Feed - (in addition to the grass and bugs they graze on)
- Humanely Cared For - Our birds spend the spring, summer and fall in a large mobile pasture coop that gets moved every 3 days. When we move the coop, we move their electric fencing that we use to keep the predators out, not the chickens in. They have the critical shade to withstand any hot Alberta days in their mobile building they can also run in to if a storm rolls through. In the winter, they spend their days in our heated barn with fermented grain, supplement, fresh hay, dry bedding, and all the water a chicken could want.
- Cleaned and Weighed - We weigh all the eggs to make sure you don't get any eggs smaller than medium sized, although most eggs are extra large.
Your Reservation is essential for us to get to work raising your laying hens. It helps cover the labor, time, and upfront costs necessary to raise laying hens the right way. Because of this investment, the *Reservation is non-refundable* Thank you for making this system possible!
