Frequently Asked Questions
Are your beef cows grass fed or grass finished?
Our beef cows are both grass fed and grass finished. We use Intensive Rotational Grazing - moving our cows to fresh grass daily. This is better for the health and wellbeing of our animals and our land. Our beef cows never eat grain.
What type of grazing practices do you use?
We use Intensive Rotational Grazing - moving our cows to fresh grass daily. This is better for the health and wellbeing of our animals and our land. We are well known by other ranchers in the area for having the greenest pastures in Athabasca County...very few ranchers in Alberta use the same method of grazing that we do. It is hard work, and it is worth it.
Do you use antibiotics or hormones?
We do not use any antibiotics, hormones, vaccines or medications. By using Intensive Rotational Grazing practices, our animals stay very health and resilient
Can we visit the ranch?
Absolutely 100% you can visit the ranch. We are very busy here, raising some of the best beef in North America, but we love to show guests and customers around the ranch. Please contact us in order to make an appointment for a visit if you so desire!
What additional charges are there after I place my order?
None - all services - processing, aging, packaging, etc., are all included in the price that you pay. We pay all shipping and handling, delivery charges, insulated packaging and climate control charges. The remaining balance of your beef package will be invoiced 7 days prior to shipping.
What breed of cattle do you raise?
We raise Red Angus and have been managing this herd as grass-fed only for almost 25 years
Is this beef raised locally?
Yes! All our beef is raised right here at BellMar Ranch & Gardens in Athabasca County, Alberta. We've got the poop on our boots to prove it!
How will our beef be wrapped when we receive it from you?
Most farms offer paper-wrapped, shrink-wrapped or vacuum-sealed packaging. BellMar Ranch & Gardens only offers vacuum sealed because it keeps your beef fresh longer in your freezer
It says my deposit is not refundable...is it possible that I could lose my deposit?
No! Not at all!
We have never kept anyone's deposit and not delivered them their order. In the event of catastrophic loss due to some unforeseen, uncontrollable forces, we may find ourselves delaying the delivery of your order.
To be clear - this has never happened, but we want you to be prepared that ranching is unpredictable and it is not impossible for things to go wrong. You will never lose a deposit you pay to us - we will always deliver your order. We always maintain open and honest communication with our customers - if something has gone sideways on us and it's not correcting, we'll let you know!
